Mark has more than thirty years of ministry experience, both in the United States and abroad. He has a passion for equipping Spirit-empowered servant leaders with the highest quality seminary scholarship and training. Prior to his role as AGTS president, his focus centered on discipleship and church planting in urban settings in North America and restricted contexts in Central Asia and far-reaching global Muslim communities.
Dr. Mark A. Hausfeld served as president of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS), Evangel University, in Springfield, Missouri, from July 1, 2015 til May 2017. Mark also functioned as the seminary’s director of the Center for Islamic Studies since June 2010. He served as associate professor of Urban and Islamic Studies from 2007 to 2015. During the 2007–2008 academic year, he was the second J. Philip Hogan Chair of World Missions at AGTS. His three Hogan lectures and monograph focused on reaching diaspora Muslims in America through the local church. Today he holds appointment at the rank of professor.
Dr. Hausfeld served as the international director of Global Initiative: Reaching Muslim Peoples (2009–2015). As director, he collaborated with national churches around the world, Assemblies of God World Missions (AGWM) regions and local churches in the United States to equip and mobilize them to reach Muslims everywhere.
As the AGWM area director for Central Eurasia (2000–2008), he provided pastoral care, strategic consultation and administration for AGWM personnel and national Assemblies of God leaders in the region.
Mark and his wife, Lynda, worked with AGWM in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan from 1995–2001. During that time, they started Teen Challenge Pakistan and assisted in two indigenous church plants. Prior to their work with AGWM, they planted churches and pastored on the South side of the city of Chicago for 10 years.
The Hausfelds have three children: Karl Hausfeld, Kara Edson with husband David and son Jax, Danae Van Kirk with husband Luke and sons Max and Jet.
