News: Hernando and Cotton honored by the Alliance for AG Higher Education
The Alliance for Assemblies of God Higher Education presented the Distinguished Educator's Award to Dr. James Hernando (right), AGTS professor of New Testament, during its biennial luncheon on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in Orlando, Fla. The award honors professors for having distinguished themselves in the Assemblies of God Fellowship by consistent excellence in scholarship and teaching. It also recognizes his outstanding contribution and lifetime commitment to postsecondary education in the Assemblies of God.
Dr. Hernando has served as a faculty member at AGTS since 1990. In addition to his duties as professor of New Testament, Dr. Hernando has completed intensive Spanish language courses at Centro de Investigaciones Culturales y Estudios Linguísticos in San José, Costa Rica and authored the book Dictionary of Hermeneutics : A Concise Guide to Terms, Names, Methods, and Expressions. He authored the commentary on 2 Corinthians in the Full Life Bible Commentary to the New Testament, along with various word studies and articles in Paraclete, Pentecostal Evangel and Pathways for Young Adults
Dr. Roger Cotton (right), AGTS professor of Old Testament, received the
Educator Award for 25 years of faithful, outstanding service to AG academic institutions.
Dr. Cotton began teaching at AGTS in 1987. He is passionate about doing biblical theology and expounding principles from the Old Testament for Christians today and has written a commentary on Leviticus along with numerous word studies, chapters and articles in various publications.
