Deborah M. Gill

Professor of Biblical Studies and Exposition
Director of Study Tours
Designer and Facilitator of Professional Coaching Cohort

B.S., University of Minnesota
M.Div., M.A., Assemblies of God Theological Seminary
Ph.D., Fuller Theological Seminary

Dr. Gill began her duties at AGTS in May 2006, after serving most recently as Commissioner of Discipleship and National Director of the Division of Christian Education for the General Council of the Assemblies of God (USA) from 2002-2006. From 1997-2001, she was senior pastor of Living Hope (a small-group-based church) in North Oaks, Minnesota. She has been a professor at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in New Testament, Greek, homiletics and music, and has served in missions in the Asia Pacific. (Dr. Gill has developed a two-semester video Greek Course.)

Dr. Gill is a world Christian. She was chosen as a delegate to participate in global event of the Lausanne Committee on World Evangelization: Lausanne II in Manila, Philippines (1989); the
Lausanne Forum 2004 in Pattaya, Thailand; and Lausanne III in Cape Town, South Africa (2010). She has traveled to about 40 countries, ministering around the globe in churches, retreats, camps, conferences, and lectureships.

Her research interests are biblical backgrounds and exposition, formation, and women in ministry and leadership. She is a founding member of Christians for Biblical Equality, co-founder of Women of the Cloth, and member of the Network for Women in Ministry Steering Committee. She is co-author (with Barbara Cavaness) of God's Women—Then and Now (Grace & Truth, 2004) now in its third English edition and multiple language translations and author of “The Pastoral Epistles” in Life in the Spirit New Testament Commentary (Zondervan, 1999). Dr. Gill is passionate about Jesus and helping others come to know and follow him. Such is her motivation in designing the AGTS Professional Coaching Cohort and in her developing of discipleship coaching and leadership coaching materials. Dr, Gill enjoys leading study tours, especially in Bible lands.

Dr. Gill lives a very active life and enjoys racing sailboats with her husband, Jan Gill, an architect specializing in church design. In 2002 and 2005 they were national champions in the M-16 class of the Inland Lake Yachting Association. (pictured below: Gills sailing and Dr. Gill with sailing trophies)

"My life purpose is to influence positive change through the ministry of the Word accompanied with signs and wonders and incarnated through relationships and integrity. My motto is grace and truth. And my goal is to be a best friend of Jesus and to love others toward Him." — Deborah M. Gill
