Spring 2002 Lectureship
Series
An exciting spring 2002 Lectureship is scheduled for January 15-17,
with Siang-Yang Tan. Dr. Tan is professor of Psychology in the Graduate School of Psychology
at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, Calif., and currently serves as senior pastor
of First Evangelical Church in Glendale, Calif. He has written a number of books and articles.
The topic for this series will relate to two of his published works, Disciplines of the
Holy Spirit and/or Experiencing Gods Peace in a Restless World. Check the posters
for his schedule.
Winter Weather
In the rare event that classes are canceled due to severe winter
weather, the major television and radio stations in Springfield will be notified that the
Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (not the same as the Assemblies of God Christian
School) has canceled classes. Before calling the seminary, listen for such announcements.
Chaplaincy Scholarships
Applications for chaplaincy scholarships (Military, Veterans Affairs,
Industrial, Institutional) from the AG Chaplaincy Department are available from Jan Maempa
in the Vice Presidents Office. The application deadline is Tuesday, January 22.
Graduation Honors and
Awards
Only those students whose accounts are paid on time may be considered
for graduation honors and awards. Be sure to handle accounts promptly.
Faculty News
John Spurling has resigned his position on the faculty of AGTS, effective
December 31, 2001, to assume the pastorate of First AG, Colleyville, Texas. We will miss
him!
Gary McGee presented a paper, Surprises of the Holy Spirit:
How the Emergence of Pentecostalism has Changed the Landscape of Modern Mission,
on December 8 to the Evangelical Study Group (mission executives and academics) at the
Overseas Ministries Study Center, New Haven, Conn.
Interim Chair for the
Practical Theology Department
Stephen Lim has been appointed Interim Chair of the Practical
Theology Department, effective January 1, and will serve as department chair for the
next two academic years.
Student Appointments
with Faculty
Students seeking appointments with faculty should sign the appointment
forms posted by the faculty members office door. Students who phone from off-campus
should contact the faculty secretary, Lois Hubbard (417-268-1070). Faculty may be emailed
at their offices by using their first initial and last name as in this example, jrailey@agts.edu.
Procedure for Summer
Practicums
Applications for summer practicums must be approved and processed
Tuesday-Friday, January 22-February 1. Applications are available from Lois Hubbard, or
if a counseling practicumfrom Angela Reid. Make an appointment now to see the appropriate
professor.
Global Missions Track
Reminder
Anyone interested in ministering in a Global Missions Track practicum
in a cross-cultural setting needs to make an appointment with Barbara Cavaness before Friday,
February 1.
Prayer Opportunities
The Khoo Kay Peng Prayer Room is literally at the center of
the AGTS complex; we also want to insure that it is at the spiritual center of our life
together. As we move into the new year, please consider the following opportunities for
a growing spiritual vitality through prayer:
- The General Councils annual week of prayer is set for January 6-13.
Be sure to schedule special time each day in the prayer room in observance of this very
important week.
- SAC sponsored weekly prayer meetingsvisit the Student
Ministries webpage for detailed times.
- Make time for personal weekly prayer in the prayer room.

Course Change Deadline,
Jan. 22
Tuesday, January 22 is the final deadline to make spring course
changes in the Records Office. The tuition refund policy for spring courses dropped is 90%
(January 7-14), 80% (January 15-22), 70% (January 23-30), no refund beginning January 31.
Free Audit for Spouses
Spouses of full-time seminarians are encouraged to audit a course
this spring free of charge. Register in the Records Office before January 22.
Summer/Fall Preregistration,
Feb. 19-22
The dates for summer and fall preregistration are February 19-22.
Financial Aid PIN Drawing
Awarded
Lucas Hunt won the $25 drawing for securing a PIN number. Watch
for another drawing in February for students who complete their Free Application for Financial
Assistance (2002-03).
Electronically Complete
FAFSA
Students should electronically complete their Financial Aid (FAFSA)
now. Applications can be completed at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Paper forms will be available in the Financial Aid Office starting January 14.
Deadline for Late Spring
Loans
February 15 is the deadline for all financial aid application paperwork
to apply for late spring federal loans.

Missions Convention
with Al Johnson, Jan. 29-Feb. 1
Al Johnson is a missionary to Thailand and presently serving for
a year as Missionary in Residence at Northwest College, Kirkland, Wash. Johnson is an AGTS
graduate and a doctoral candidate at the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies, England. His
presentations in chapel January 29-February 1 will include his personal testimony about
his journey to missions, a scholarly presentation, a preaching challenge toward missions,
and a Q & A session.
Brown Bag Lunch with
Al Johnson, Jan. 30
All AGTS students and faculty are invited to bring their own lunch
and join in discussion with Al Johnson in the Student Lounge on Wednesday, January 30, 11:30
a.m.-1 p.m.
Light for the Lost Banquet,
Jan. 31
There will be a Light for the Lost banquet on Thursday, January
31, 5 p.m., Great Hall. Al Johnson will speak. The entire AGTS community is encouraged to

Financial Registration
If you have not yet completed financial registration for the 2002 spring
term, please do so immediately. Failure to complete this process will result in your name
being dropped from class rosters and could jeopardize any scholarship awards.
Scholarship Applications
Scholarship applications for the fall 2002 semester will be available on
or before February 1 in the Business Office. These awards are for returning students and
will be determined by March 1.
Check Your Statements
Carefully
Scholarships for the spring 2002 term will post to your student account
in mid January after the drop/add period. If you are receiving an award for the spring
semester and it is not reflected on your February statement, notify the Business Office
as soon as possible.
