Congratulations, Dr. Gary McGee!

• Dr. McGee’s book, Introducing World Missions, has been selected as a finalist for the ECPA Gold Medallion award in the Missions/Evangelism category.

Faculty Guests—Summer 2005

• Dr. Murray Dempster
  • (Ph.D. in Social Ethics, Univ. of Southern California) is the president of Vanguard           University in Costa Mesa, California  
  • He is the co-author of Salt and Light: Evangelical Political Thought in Modern America.
  • His most recent co-edited anthology, The Globalization of Pentecostalism: A Religion Made to Travel , was selected by the International Bulletin of Missionary Research as one of the most significant books on church mission in 1999.  
  • He will be teaching the course, “The Church and Contemporary Moral Issues,” June 27-July 1.
• Dr. Wave Nunnally
  • (PH.D., Hebrew Union College) is a professor of Biblical studies at Evangel University  
  • Having lived in Israel for several years, his abilities in both biblical and modern    Hebrew are outstanding, and he is widely recognized as one of the premier Hebrew teachers in the Assemblies of God.  
  • Last year Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion awarded him the Founders Medallion in appreciation for meritorious service to the school as president of the alumni council and as a member of its Board of Governors. He was the first Gentile to ever serve in that capacity.  
  • He will be teaching “Hebrew 1A” and “IB” this summer at AGTS.
• Rev. Harry Morin
  • (M.A.C.M., AGTS) was a missionary for 15 years in Bangladesh and 5 years in the Philippines before his current ministry at the Center of Ministry to Muslims in 1995  
  • He applies his extensive experience in Muslim contexts to preparing Christian ministers in more than a dozen countries on five continents.  
  • Given the current world crisis in the relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims, students should strongly consider taking Morin’s course, “Introductions to Islam,” this summer.

Late Summer Financial Aid

• If you missed the deadline for summer federal financial aid, you may still be eligible for a late loan.
• Students applying late need to make regular deferred payments through the Business Office via personal funds, credit card, or a short-term loan from an outside lender until the late loan funds arrive.

Final Deadline:   Fall Stafford & Perkins Loans

• July 15 is the final deadline for all financial aid forms to be submitted to the Financial Aid Office and the FAFSA 2005-06 to be finalized by the Central Processor.  
• To complete the 2005-06 FAFSA, go to the www.agts.edu Financial Aid page or www.fafsa.ed.gov.
• Submit your FAFSA electronically and turn your paper forms into the Financial Aid Office to meet the deadline.

Deferred Payment Dates

• Deferred payment dates for the summer semester are May 2, June 15 and July 15.  
• Past due accounts are subject to a $25 per month late fee.

Full Cash Payment Discount

• If you pay off the summer balance of your account in full on or before May 3, the Business Office will post a 1% tuition rebate to your account for the summer semester.  
• To be eligible for this rebate, however, your entire summer balance must be paid in full no later than May 3, regardless of the session(s) in which you are enrolled.  
• The 1% is calculated on the net tuition fee, which is the total tuition charge less institutional aid and other institutional discounts and is available only to regular, masters-level students in the resident program.

• Dr. Roger Cotton
  • Presented his paper, “Prescribing Old Testament Law:   A Proposal,” at the annual meeting of the central states region of the Society of Biblical Literature in St. Louis on    April 3.
• Dr. Stephen Lim
  • February 22—Spoke at Global University to thesis coordinators from different parts of the world on the subject, “Coordinating Graduate Theses”
  • March 29—Presented a one-day workshop on “Discipleship” at the General Council’s Division of Christian Education and the Commission for Discipleship
  • March 31—Was the key speaker for the Annual Ministers’ Retreat of the National Chinese Fellowship in Dallas, Texas
• Dr. Johan Mostert
  • Spoke at the Wheaton College Student Global AIDS Campaign Conference, February 18-19
  • He delivered a paper, “ABC Method of AIDS Prevention” at a workshop, and a second paper in the Conference Plenary session, “A Strategy for the Church to Combat HIV/AIDS.”
  • In February, Mostert reported on his consultations to Kerus Global, who is preparing the youth curriculum for Samaritan’s Purse African AIDS Strategy. He spent another 10 days consulting with Kerus Global in March. The final product has now gone to Samaritan’s Purse for their approval.
• Dr. Lori O’Dea
  • Spoke at a women’s event in Decatur, Illinois, and was the speaker at a women’s retreat in Hanover Park, Illinois, during the month of March.  
  • March 30—presented a one-day workshop on mentoring and small groups for the General Council’s Division of Christian Education and the Commission for Discipleship.
