Scholarships for Returning International Students
The seminary does not offer any scholarships that will cover the full cost of tuition,
fees and living expenses. The following scholarships, however, are available to international
students who have already raised a majority of their support.
Prince Guneratnam Asian Leadership Award
The Prince Guneratnam Asian Leadership Award offers assistance
to new or returning Asian students who demonstrate merit
and financial need and who hold ministerial credentials.
The amount of the award is based upon current investment
rates and will be determined by the AGTS Scholarship Committee
each year.
J. Philip Hogan International Student Fund
The J. Philip Hogan International Student Fund offers assistance
to new or returning international students who demonstrate
merit and financial need.
In order to apply for an international student scholarship, we will need the following
items from you:
- Your completed application for admission. You must be admitted
to AGTS before you can be considered for a scholarship.
- A letter of application for the specific
scholarship for which you are applying. This letter must be directed to President Byron
Klaus explaining your ministerial history, financial need, reasons for coming to AGTS,
and how you plan to continue in ministry.
- A letter of recommendation. An official
of your church (preferably a national or regional official) must write a letter recommending
you for study at AGTS. A good letter will describe your potential for ministry as well
as your ministerial history. This letter should also be forwarded to President Klaus.
- Proof of licensure. You do not have
to be a credentialed minister to apply for the J. Philip Hogan scholarship; however,
if you hold credentials with your home church, sending a copy of your credentials may
enable you to apply for the Prince Guneratnam Asian Leadership Award.
Your completed scholarship application letter and recommendation should be mailed directly
to President Byron Klaus. We suggest that all of your admissions and scholarship application
materials be received by AGTS no later than one year before you plan to enroll. Remember
that your application for admission to AGTS must be approved before you will be considered
for a scholarship. Completing a scholarship application does not guarantee you
will receive a scholarship.
