Dr. Jay Taylor
Director of Spiritual Formation |
This year the AGTS Spiritual Formation Office charted new territory in its efforts
to facilitate holistic spiritual growth in students! Recognizing that preparation for
effective ministry must extend beyond a mere academic experience, we have committed
to provide personalized opportunities for spiritual development. This includes: a mentoring
program for women; self-directed accountability groups for all students; a sexual integrity
in ministry seminar; and personal contact with each entering student, specifically for
the purpose of facilitating individual spiritual transformation.
I met personally with each new student at least twice during the year in order to assist
students in discovering how God wants to work uniquely in and through them. This involved
utilizing various personal assessment tools and spiritual gifts tests and reflective
discussion regarding what God is doing in the students lives. The personal touch
has been a source of encouragement to students who appreciate the genuine concern and
practical help AGTS offers to facilitate intentional spiritual growth.
The Student Services Office also expanded this year in response to learning challenges
faced by deaf and blind students. The ability to work with students special learning
needs is an important aspect of the development of Student Services at AGTS.
