Mo.—March 14, 2006—The Assemblies of God Theological
Seminary (AGTS) and Chaplaincy Ministries of the Assemblies of
God will host a luncheon in honor of American military veterans
Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Noon at the Clarion Hotel in Springfield,
Mo. (3333 S. Glenstone Ave.).
Featured guests include a brass
quintet, led by Dr. Mike Kolstad, associate professor of music
at Evangel University, Springfield, Mo., and Vietnam Veteran
Dave Roever (photos at left).
In July 1969, while serving as a
Brown Water Black Beret with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, Dave Roever
was severely burned when a white phosphorus grenade exploded
in his hand. He was thought to be dead. But due to his faith
in God and the faithful love of his wife Brenda, Roever survived,
undergoing 14 surgeries at the Brooke Army Medical Center in
San Antonio, Texas.
Barely having left the hospital, Roever began
his speaking career in Texas, and from there has traveled all
over the U.S.A. and to many nations. As he shares his riveting
story with skill and humor, listeners cry as they laugh, being
inspired and motivated to overcome their own tragedies.
In a moving
ceremony on November 1, 2003, 34 years after his initial injury
in Vietnam, Roever was awarded the Purple Heart as well as other
American military veterans are invited to attend free of charge
but space is limited. Call Susan Starkey at 417-268-1010 to reserve
tickets by Tuesday, March 21. For promotional photographs email
