LEGAL COUNSELOR RECOGNIZED
Although not a household name among Assemblies of God laypeople, Richard Hammar, the
legal counselor for the Assemblies of God headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, was named
one of the 50 most influential Christians in America in the January 2003 edition of the
ChurchExecutive magazine.
Hammar's influence crosses all denominational lines as he is one of the nation's top
legal experts on church law. His "Church Law and Tax Report" is required reading
by leadership in many denominations. According to ChurchExecutive, most churches
in America operate based on Hammar's interpretation of the law.
"I was taken totally by surprise when I was informed of this recognition,"
Hammar said. "But it demonstrates something I tell my 4th grade Sunday school class
every weekif you place God first in your life, and do your very best to use the
talents He has given you, there is no limit to what you can do."
