News: A shooting at AGTS?
As part of the class “Ministry in Trauma, Crisis & Grief Contexts” and AGTS's commitment to educational innovation and community involvement, alums Manuel Cordero (‘81) and Robert and Elizabeth Jernigan (‘81) organized a crisis training session at the seminary, Wednesday, October 22, 2008. School and church shootings have been happening across the United States. A little more than a year ago, a gunman entered a church in Neosho, Mo., not far from Springfield, and killed three while wounding five others.
Local TV affiliate KY3 reports “On Wednesday, the horrific sights and sounds of a shooting rang out at Assemblies of God Theological Seminary on North Glenstone Avenue – with an important difference: it was a drill. With shots fired, a hostage situation and officers responding, little other than an audience provided the reminder that it was only a drill.”
