Student Spotlights

Starla Gooch - "Spirit-led, Spirit-united community"

Starla Gooch, AGTS Student from AGTS on Vimeo.

Originally from Cincinnati, the search for a Pentecostal seminary led Starla to AGTS after completing her undergraduate degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion. Starla felt that AGTS was a place where she could continue both her personal and professional development. During her time at seminary, she has experienced holistic formation in Christ that has prepared her to better serve the local church in the power of the Holy Spirit. Church planting is on the horizon for Starla. Upon completion of her Master of Divinity in the spring of 2016, she looks to establish a community that focuses on leading people into lives of healing and wholeness in Christ.
Matt Huffman - "Finding God in the middle of it."

Matt Hufman, AGTS Student from AGTS on Vimeo.

A Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and husband and father of two, Matt describes his seminary pursuit as one of the craziest things he and his family have even done. Before relocating to Springfield to begin his Master of Divinity, Matt spent 13 years in Las Vegas, Nevada, and claims Oakland, California as his hometown. Even though Matt dropped everything to move to Springfield, he says it’s a relatively small investment for the return. When asked to describe Pentecostal spirituality, Matt states, “We do crazy, rationally.” He describes his time at AGTS as “faith and understanding taken to new levels.” Matt will graduate in 2017.
Yisrael Vincent - From classroom to pulpit to discipleship

An accounting graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Yisrael made the move to AGTS to pursue his Master of Divinity. If you ask Yisrael about the transition to seminary, he immediately speaks of the provision from his home church. They helped fund his initial seminary visit and continue to morally, spiritually and financially support his educational journey. Yisrael will tell you that the move to Springfield was tremendously valuable and the relationships he made are just as impactful as the classroom experiences. Upon completing his MDiv, Yisrael looks forward to pursuing his PhD with AGTS in Biblical Theology.
Tim Lee - Priceless Input

Tim Lee, AGTS Student from AGTS on Vimeo.

A biology graduate of the University of Maryland, Timothy decided to transition to Springfield, Missouri in 2013. He says "Pursuing a Master of Divinity at the premiere school for military chaplaincy in the Assemblies of God brought me to AGTS." Additionally, the location of AGTS next to the Assemblies of God's National Leadership and Resource Center was attractive to Tim because of the opportunities to learn from leadership within chaplaincy. Timothy describes his time at AGTS as a season of learning and interacting from some of the best people he has ever met. Timothy looks to graduate in the fall of 2017.
